Good notes should reduce the distance between class and practice. If your notes only preserve what the lecturer said, they still leave the hardest work for later. The better pattern is to capture the point, name the question it answers, and mark what you need to test.

Compress the remaining gaps into high-yield questions.
After-Class Review
Spend 10 to 15 minutes converting notes while the context is still fresh. Write three questions from the lecture, answer them without looking, and flag anything you cannot explain in your own words. Those flags should become your next flashcards or office-hour questions.
Avoid converting every sentence into a card. The goal is a review system you will actually use: key terms, recurring mistakes, formulas, contrasts, and examples that are likely to appear in assignments or exams.
What Makes Notes Study-Ready
Study-ready notes are easy to question. Each section should leave you with a claim, an example, and a possible test prompt. If a note only repeats the slide, it may be accurate, but it is not yet useful for retrieval.
Use a quick check after class: can I explain this without the slide, can I apply it to a new example, and do I know what I confuse it with? If not, add a cue, a contrast, or a worked example before the material goes cold.
